Background

Dr. Dodge is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Health Science and Associate Director of the Center for Sexual Health Promotion. He received his Ph.D. in Health Behavior (with minors in Human Sexuality and Dutch) from Indiana University in 2002. He completed his postdoctoral training in the NIMH-funded Behavioral Sciences Research in HIV Infection Fellowship in the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies at the Columbia University Department of Psychiatry and the New York State Psychiatric Institute. He then served as an Assistant Professor in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at the University of Florida for two years. A proud alumnus, he re-joined the faculty of Indiana University in 2007. He is a core faculty member of the Behavioral, Social, and Community Health concentration and Affiliated Faculty at The Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender, and Reproduction.  Dr. Dodge is also appointed as an Adjunct Associate Professor at the School of Public Health of the University of Puerto Rico Health Sciences Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where he serves as a core faculty member of the Latin American Center for Sexual Health Promotion.

Research Interests

Dr. Dodge's research and training have focused on various social and behavioral aspects of sexual health in relation to HIV/AIDS, other sexually transmitted infections (STI), and other facets of overall well-being. His current research agenda focuses broadly on men's sexual health, including male bisexuality and its potential relationships to risk, innovative methods of STI testing, and the ongoing role of male condoms in sexual health promotion.

Recent Research Funding

National Institutes of Health/NIAID R56 AI097146 (Dodge, Co-investigator) Asymptomatic Men's Preferences for Chlamydia Screening
08/15/12-07/31/13
This study will provide data designed to develop and implement measures of preference and acceptability for chlamydia screening programs. Scientific outcomes will add to the knowledge base that is lacking evidenced-based information on the design of a screening and control program that would be most likely to be accepted by men without symptoms of infection.

Sexual Health Among Bisexual Men
05/01/09-04/30/11
The major goal of this project is to provide insights into the individual and socio-cultural factors, as well as the sexual and risk-related decision-making processes, that may be potential targets of future sexual health promotion efforts among diverse groups of bisexual men.
