Description: This grant was awarded to help support the reconstruction of Bella Lewitzky's master work, Trio ofr Saki. Nora Daniels, Ms. Lewitzky's daughter and former principal dancer of the Bella Lewitzky Dance Company, was brought to rehearse the work for performance in the annual faculty concert, and to maintain its choreographic and performance integrity.

Research:

Professor Hamm's research and creative activity focus on choreography in the jazz and modern dance genres. Additionally, she has worked in the area of technology as it relates to the development of Web-based dance activities and assignments. She continues to explore the "History of modern dance at Indiana University."

Publications

"A Reel," original choreography premiered on January 12 & 13, 2006, at the Ruth N. Halls Theatre, Bloomington, IN.

"Don't cry," a solo modern dance premiered at the Ruth N. Halls Theatre, Bloomington, IN., January 2005. Adjudicated for performance at the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) Gala Concert, October 2005.

"Invention I and II," a two part modern jazz dance, which portrays the process of inventing and the completion of the process. Part II follows the form and structure of the music of the same title. Performed at the Ruth Hall Theater, Bloomington, IN, January 2005.

Teaching the essence of movement through verbal articulation in contemporary dance. A paper presented with Professors Elizabeth L. Shea and Laura Poole at the National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) annual conference, East Lansing, MI, October 23, 2004.

"Variations," a modern dance choreographed in 1982, restaged for the first annual IU Dance Faculty concert. Performed at the Buskirk-Chumley Theater, Bloomington, IN, January, 2003.
