His primary research interests include: (1) surveillance and systems analysis of active living within the United States public recreation and park agencies. Currently he is directing a Healthy Communities Surveillance and Management Project with a 15 member interdisciplinary team at Indiana University, Bloomington; (2) Measuring real time leisure behavior using telemetry in persons with spinal cord injury and chronic illness; and (3) development of theoretical structures and instrumentation to measure the "experience" factor while engaged in leisure, sport, travel and events.
