JayawardeneA The aim of this study was to determine whether incorrect reporting of height and weight existed among US high school students, and if so, to examine anthropometric, behavioral, and demographic factors associated with reporting accuracy. Figure, derived from canonical discriminant functions, plotted group centroids for over-reporters, under-reporters, and correct-reporters, relative to two behavioral functions identified: 1 (X-axis) = healthy and unhealthy weight-loss behaviors; 2 (Y-axis) = fast food consumption and screen time. This study, conducted in collaboration with hospital and pediatric clinics of Bloomington Indiana, aimed to identify pediatric BMI (body mass index) migration patterns over two years by sex, age group, and health insurance type. Overall, BMI migration patterns were more favorable for subjects ages 2-4 years, females, and those with private insurance, while less favorable for subjects ages 12-19 years, males, and those with public insurance. A parallel study identified pediatric BMI trajectories associated with asthma and depression.
