Expert in medical law and bioethics to discuss European protection of genetic information

INDIANAPOLIS -- The IU Center for Bioethics will present a special guest lecturer next month.

Anne-Marie Duguet, senior lecturer at the Medicine Faculty Toulouse Purpan at Paul Sabatier University will present "Protection of Genetic Information in Europe and in France" from 3 to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, in Room 1130 of the Health Information Translational Science Building, 410 W. 10th St.

Duguet teaches medical law and bioethics at Medicine Faculty Toulouse Purpan. Her list of accomplishments includes membership on the advisory board of the European Journal of Health Law. Duguet also served as the secretary of the European Association for Health Law.

In 2010, Dalian Medical University and the Hainan Medical University in China appointed Duguet as a visiting professor for three years. In 2011, Duguet was honored by the decoration of "the Palmes Academiques.”

Arrangements for Duguet’s visit are a collaborative effort among the IU Center for Bioethics, the Robert H. McKinney School of Law and the Fairbanks School of Public Health.
