BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The Explore Majors and More Fair, presented by University Division and the Career Development Center at Indiana University Bloomington, will take place Wednesday, Feb. 5, at Alumni Hall in the Indiana Memorial Union from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The fair is a campus-wide event created in coordination with all IU Bloomington schools and several co-curricular and extracurricular programs. All programs will be working together to empower undergraduates to create their educational experience based on their own interests and goals.

Career advisers from the Career Development Center and academic advisers from University Division will be available to help students articulate their goals and interests, determine which programs are related and answer quick questions about degree planning.

"This fair will be an excellent starting point for any student seeking to gain marketable skills and experience while pursuing a course of study that will support a successful career and lifelong learning," said Alice Dobie-Galuska, University Division adviser and an event organizer.

Eleven IU schools will be represented at the fair: College of Arts and Sciences, Kelley School of Business, School of Education, School of Informatics and Computing, School of Journalism, Jacobs School of Music, School of Nursing, School of Optometry, School of Public and Environmental Affairs, School of Public Health and School of Social Work. In addition, organizations offering extracurricular opportunities to undergraduate students will also participate.

"As career advisers, we encourage all students to make informed major and career decisions by exploring all of their options," said Alexa Yarnelle, Career Development Center senior assistant director of student services. "This fair offers students the unique opportunity to explore all IU schools in one place. In addition, the 'and More' section of the fair will provide excellent ideas about how to gain experience and prepare for the competitive job market."

While learning more about academic programs and skill-building opportunities, attendees will have the chance to participate in interactive games, receive giveaways and enter to win prizes, including Jacobs School of Music event tickets.

Students are encouraged to visit the event website to learn more about the fair and resources available when choosing a major and preparing for a career.

The Career Development Center helps students prepare for a career they’ll love. It offers one-on-one career advising, information on career events and courses, part-time and seasonal job postings, and more.

University Division, a program of the Office of the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education, provides advising and other services for students who are preparing to select a major at Indiana University. Committed to supporting student success, University Division helps undergraduate students develop and follow programs that reflect their academic interests and career goals.
